Hotel Jardines de Nivaria – Designed To Impress

Adrian Hotels, Costa Adeje, has 3 stunning hotels in Tenerife and Jardines de Nivaria will be the subject of my holiday accommodation review. Colon Guanahani (4-star and adults only), Roca Nivaria GH (5-star and offers a children’s club and family environment) or Jardines de Nivaria (5-star and peaceful settings).

The hotel is situated in Fanabe and a stone’s throw away from El Duque, set in a corner plot of a lovely area of Tenerife. I cannot tell you how many times I have walked past this hotel, glancing at the large entrance yet never imagining what the interior of this hotel looks like. To be honest, looking from the outside of the hotel, it looks like many other 5 star hotels and the only real view from the street is the entrance. It looks nothing flash or snazzy and there is no giveaway as to what lies behind these external walls.

Today was a different day and I was now ready to find out the mystery of what was hidden behind this grand entrance and garden walls. Stanislav Klajhan had kindly agreed to take me to look around the hotel and give me a little insight into the family chain of Adrian Hotels.

I wanted to keep my views unbias and therefore Tripadvisor had not been part of my research at this point as people who know me, will realise that this tool can sometimes be helpful but also misleading. With a clean slate, mind and opinion, I entered the hotel based on the criteria for a scoring system which included Design Individuality, Appealing Location & Attention To Detail.

First Impressions

From walking up to the entrance, immediately I knew this hotel’s priority was to monitor guests and uninvited guests as the security at the entrance were alert (day and night). Not offensive, not off-putting but alert! They monitored who went in and out of the building and in the times of today, with the ever-growing world issues and crime, this gave me reassurance that I could relax.

From walking through the door, my eyes lit up and I have to confess, I thought I was in a hotel in Mayfair, London. It was spotless. In fact, at one point I kept looking at the shine on the floor. It is certainly appealing to those guests who want a hotel with a more grandeur feel (but not overpowering). Immediately, the impression that entered my head was WOW! quality hits you right in the face.

Let’s keep it real though as I had only just got to the reception and there was plenty more to see yet! I needed to keep my objectives in order and see what this hotel offered for holiday accommodation and how it differs from others, especially with my hidden agenda or motives.

Mission No 1 – Design Individuality

With so many 5-star hotels to choose from in Tenerife, what made this hotel stand out for me? What gave it the WOW factor or something that made me sit up and say, ‘that’s different’.

I have never really thought about architecture in a hotel before until this day. Walking from the hotel reception to the main staircase, immediately you see the most amazing, vivid stained glass feature, set in a dome-shaped roof light. The zodiac designed masterpiece will capture your eyes and imagination immediately like a ‘work of art’ in a famous gallery or a beautiful stained glass window in a church.

This is the heart of the hotel, the personality, design and innovative thinking of what sets the standards throughout.

At the time of my visit, it was a week before Christmas (Navidad). The cascading strings of lights which flowed from this amazing, colourful theme, looked beautiful.

Underneath this work of art lay an elegant and refined staircase, supported by 2 sculptures.

Moving to the lower level and down the stairs, another great feature point is the circular bar or lounge area. The design continues in theme with the staircase feature so it balances out nicely in the flow or feel of the hotel when walking around. The style is a kind of giant ‘Tiffany Lamp’ theme which is really pretty and colourful.

The interior design was all tastefully completed to high standards. In many parts of the hotel, the earthy and natural coloured tones complimented the whole setting. Different designs and sometimes themes which you would not think would work but strangely they looked great when all put together. The person who pulled this together certainly has a tasteful eye for interior design and attention to detail.

Moving onto the 5th floor and heading up by the lift, I was off to see the new creation of the restaurant La Cúpula. The glass front design looked out to stunning sea views, gardens and pool view. Guests have inside seating arrangements with an option of the large window which can be opened to display the most amazing views, it looks stunning.  Picture perfect! Ideal for a romantic meal or some selective dining for a peaceful setting on holiday. Guests staying in the Superior rooms and higher grades will have the benefit of taking breakfast in the new established, elegant restaurant.

It was difficult to imagine the hotel had been renovated in 2016 but what I kept in my mind was this wonderful, warm and classy restaurant area which was designed to impress while eating. The hotel offers one of the finest Chefs too so guests would benefit from French and Canarian food.

The only regret that I had was it was daytime for my visit so there was not an opportunity to show off the finely set tables and the Chef’s prepared dishes for dinner. I could only imagine the ambience of this beautiful setting and the stunning sunsets which would be seen from here.

My plan is to return one day and show you this wonderful restaurant but until then, you will have to use your imagination, like me!

Design Individuality Mission complete and a definite tick of approval.

Mission No 2 Appealing Location

With the sun in full force, the interior design had exceeded my expectations, it was now time to look at the external part of the hotel and concentrate on location. After all, Tenerife is fabulous for year round sunshine and offers some of the best climates in the world for relaxing in the sun. This was now my opportunity to see if the external views were just as good as the interior.

Looking from the balcony of the La Cúpula restaurant, it was impressive to see that the design had captured one of the best aspects of this hotel… location and sea views. It was clearly visual that the planning of the outside space had been carefully thought through, in fact, all centred around the guests and their holiday experience. Why I say this is, from dining at the La Cúpula or sitting on your room balcony, the views are stunning.

How many times do you book a hotel and have to pay extra in the hope of getting a room with a sea view? This hotel has been planned to allow all guests to benefit from the design and location of the hotel. Innovation is definitely key to this architectural planning and designed to impress!

What I like about this hotel is it removes the stereotypical thoughts of Tenerife being (sand, sea and booze). This hotel is for those holidaymakers who want a relaxing time, chilling out in a refined accommodation and removing away some of the stresses of life. This is what a holiday is all about for me.

There is even a large garden gazebo which offers wedding services or great if you want to renew your wedding vows in an idyllic setting.

The pool area is spacious, yet private enough for guests to enjoy a relaxing time soaking up the sun. It was noticeable that sunbeds were not packed together in lines or rows of ‘invading spaces’ which was a nice thought for having ‘time out’.

Surrounded by luscious green shrubs, flowers and palm trees, the setting was idyllic for guests who appreciate the more tranquil holiday scene. This hotel is not designed for children or those seeking a party style holiday.

The accommodation for sleeping and balcony areas offer guests a private and stunning setting. The seafront rooms will ensure you get some spectacular views yet maintain the privacy and security, set within the hotel gardens and walls.

Guests can sip an afternoon drink on their balcony and watch the adventurous holidaymakers enjoying the numerous watersports. Depending on the location of your room, you may be situated to people watch as the thousands of holidaymakers enjoy the walks, restaurants and beach right in front of this stunning hotel.

With plenty of excursions to consider for some great days out, the location for the beach, views and amenities are spot on. There is even a great bus service close by to get you to other towns or to places to visit should you wish to venture out.

One of the unique advantages of this hotel is there are no front street views. Although the front street is fine, quiet and no real problem with this particular hotel, the design has captured the full bonus of the sea view for guests. Perfect and private as there are no interruptions from passers-by.

The flat roof skylight style tiles (pictured above), are part of the new design of the poolside restaurant. What is brilliant about this design is the controls of this roof allows part or all of the tiles to be removed, leaving an option of all sun access, part or none when dining in this area.

It was really interesting to learn that the architectural design and interior finishing touches were all the masterpiece of the family who owns the chain of Adrian Hotels. Talented and well thought out.

Appealing Location is again a yes!

With the comfortable surroundings, stunning views and innovative restaurant, what can we expect from the hotel rooms and poolside restaurant?

Mission No 3 – Attention to detail

If you want to indulge in the Superior Suite (pictured below) for that additional holiday experience and treat yourself, you can expect to find a modern style theme room. The spacious room has a high-quality floor finish and a large balcony with double sunbeds.

The style, colours, theme and standards are continued throughout the hotel suites and rooms.

The whole hotel is spotlessly clean (as if everyone has a cleaning compulsion) which to me stands out by a mile. Everywhere I went, it was immaculate.

Sit back and enjoy the poolside ‘al la carte’ or a less formal choice

Food is a topic of conversation when it comes to a holiday and why not! This is an important point as we all like to indulge in some lovely ‘grub’ or how shall I say… ‘fine gourmet food’. This hotel is not for those who like the classic burger and chips, no. Hotel Jardines de Nivaria offers a classic, high standard gastronomy which will ensure that you are left wanting more of the carefully prepared dishes on offer.

There have been several top hotels which have ticked the box for accommodation for me but sadly let down on the food. Let’s be honest, we all like some good food on holiday and I wanted to see if the bar had been raised at this hotel (as I was well aware of the level of expertise from Chefs in Tenerife through the gastronomy awards). Tenerife is becoming world leaders when it comes to providing new ideas and brilliant food dishes.

Time to eat!

For me, quality over quantity matters every time. As I was not eating alone, a gentle persuasion to select the ‘prawns in garlic sauce’ was an option I agreed too.

What can I say? my only regret is that I actually had to share this delicious dish and I feel guilty for devouring it quicker than expected or not ordering another. Well as a Tenerife tapas expert, this gets a ‘thumbs up’ from me and one of the best prawns in garlic sauce ever!

Another selection of starters were the cheeses. Traditional for Tenerife and I must say, extremely tasty and appetising.

And there is more!

For the main course, I opted for fresh Seabass which is a must on holiday. The freshly cooked fish was light, tasty and perfectly cooked, accompanied by Canarian potatoes and fresh salad. Again, 10/10 to the Chef responsible for these mouthwatering dishes which adds more value to the full package of this hotel. Truly ‘well done’ as this food was outstanding!

With a twist of my arm and a gentle persuasion from the wonderful waitress who was at hand and ensured our service always received a smile, I just had to try the dessert. Again, it raised the standards and the coconut and caramel sweet dish, completed the end of what was an amazing lunch.

If you noticed from the photographs, the design continuity of beautiful porcelain plates, and matching tablecloths.

Attention to detail is a Yes and certainly exceeds expectations for quality, cleanliness and final touches throughout the hotel.

Hotel Jardines de Nivaria offers a gym for those who want to keep up their fitness routine and also a stunning, health spa and treatment facility. My aim is to write another blog for the restaurant and spa so readers can gain the full benefit of the services on offer here and to see the photographs for a live experience.

Only a few minutes walk to the beach of Fanabe or a 5 – 10-minute walk to Playa El Duque, guests have the advantage of some of the most stunning coastal views on the Island. El Duque is the top end of the market with designer shops and cafes to take an afternoon Prosecco or drink. Definitely ‘ a must’ walking area should you decide to stay at Hotel Jardines de Navaria.

What really stands out about Hotel Jardines de Navaria is the innovation of the design, circular the buildings to stand out where needed and the stunning settings of the gardens that frame this magnificent holiday accommodation. The investment ploughed into this hotel has certainly paid off as any guests who are looking for that extra Va Va Voom or classy place to stay, will successfully achieve it by booking here. The staff are extremely professional and attentive to your needs  and you will be catered for quickly and with care.

It offers a quiet and private dwelling for those wanting a peaceful and chilled out holiday.

The result! it ticked all the boxes for design individuality, location, attention to detail.

A hidden little gem of a hotel and from the outside, you would never expect the gorgeous surprise behind the outside walls. I am so pleased that I ventured into this stunning hotel and shared this experience with you all!
